I've been riding bikes since an early age but my real addiction began over 30 years ago when I logged hundreds of miles road riding as part of my rehab from a motorcross injury. That turned into years of racing at the amateur level in Alberta and as mountain bikes came onto the scene, I added fat tires to my love of all things with wheels. I've worked as a rep for most of the top products we sell in the store and as a manager on the retail side of things so opening my own shop in January was a natural culmination of all this experience. If you have a question about bikes (the more obscure the better), I probably have the answer and if not, I know enough of the "originals" in the biz to track it down. My goal is to introduce more people to cycling and keep them pedalling for years to come.
My passion is xc riding on the local trails so I split my time in the saddle between a Gary Fisher Superfly custom build 29er, a custom Dekerf hardtail and Brodie Romax B Team cross bike.

I've been riding bikes since childhood but really got into cycling after joining a highschool cycling club and then meeting Scott a few years into University. I've been on mountain bikes for most of the past 18 years but have rediscovered my love for skinnier tires when I got a cyclocross bike in 2008. My experience in the industry is mostly through riding, cycling events (races, festivals and trade shows), founding a women's only mountain bike club, a brief stint of racing for 1 year and osmosis from all the knowledge Scott has on tap. I've decided to go back to my xc roots so have a custom Dekerf SST and will soon have a Turner Flux to smooth out the ride.

I started riding late at age 8 and have always enjoyed taking things apart and collecting bicycles that were thrown out on garage day. I started my first job via my junior high school's work experience program at a bike shop in Port Coquitlam and have more or less been in the industry ever since. I won my first mountain bike race I entered at age 15, placed second provincially as a junior and briefly rode as a pro but it seems any good mechanic never succeeds as a racer so here I am 19 years later. I worked at Rocky Mountain in Wheeltech and have been establishing a reputation building wheels for 14 years. I love the Tri-cities area and have lived here for 27 years and in addition to bikes, my hobbies include motorsports and electronics. I especially enjoy talking about vintage mountain bikes and maintain an abnormal collection of them so drop by and introduce yourself.

My bike interest started when I was about 13. In middle school I was in a racing program called SPOKE and generally finished in second or third place. In the summer of 2009 I bought my first real bike, a Norco 4-Hun (no more super mart bikes for me) and started to ride park-street. I love it and want to keep learning more and how to do tricks! Getting a job here at Secret Cycles was the best thing that happened to me in 2010. Learning more about the bike industry and how to maintain my own bike has never been better.
Della & Lily - Official Greeters
Della and Lily are our official Secret Cycles greeters
and love hanging out at the shop, meeting new friends and
entertaining the kids who stop by. When not at the shop,
they're either ripping it up on the local trails or hanging out
at Uptown dog with their other four legged buddies.
